Tofino! summer trip

Last August we arranged a group trip to Tofino with some really wonderful friends and their children.

There were six families with each family having 2 to 3 children. We were a large group! We stayed at the Tofino botanical gardens where you can rent out a large house. It was perfect. The kids roamed freely and had fun together. There was a fire pit outside so after bedtime the adults could get together and have some drinks and catch up. Of course we visited the wonderful beaches and the local skate park.

It was so great that we are booked in for this September 🙂

Horticulture Centre Of The Pacific – summer workshops

Claire & Rhys are super keen to do some fun 1/2 day or a few hour long camps during the summer.

I found out that the horticultural centre, which is beautiful, hosts some kid classes. I signed Claire & Rhys up for two classes in the summer- a fairy garden workshop and a tea making workshop. Both were on very nice sunny days and the staff who ran them were amazing. Always great to spend some time outdoors.

Summer trip to Vancouver

Every summer we head over the Vancouver for a short trip to see friends and experience the big city. We stay downtown in a hotel and walk a lot, take transit and explore. There is so much to do in Vancouver.

We visited the updated Art Gallery of Vancouver Plaza and did some shopping on Robson. So much to look at! We walked along Denman Street and went to English Bay. Claire & Rhys really enjoyed the art installation there. We went to the gelato place where there are hundreds of flavours to choose from. We even took Claire to an all girls skate meet-up which she enjoyed.

We also went to the Vans bowl series skateboard competition at Hastings skate park. We have attended the past two years but this year it was SO crowded and the kids were overwhelmed so Jimmy stayed and hung out with his friend Dustin and the kids & I drove to North Vancouver to spend time with our friend Tash and her children. Claire & Rhys hit it off with Sully and Crosby and baby Liv is a sweet-heart.

We stayed an extra night at Jordan and Dustin’s house and had a really great visit with Faye, Niels and our friend Jessica who was visiting from New York with her children.

It was a great adventure!

Annual Sooke trip!

Every year we do a night or two in Sooke at Wendy & Chris’ house. Normally we camp out in a tent but the past two years we have been traumatized by their cat named Joe! Joe loves to attack the tents which doesn’t work well for us camping out 😉 We tried this year again and set up the tent and the attack happened. Claire & Rhys went inside the tent to read and Joe with his sharp claws attacked. We quickly abandoned that idea and we stayed in the Boler instead.

We ate, we went swimming in the local river and we relaxed 🙂 Always a fun time! Thanks Wendy, Chris & Senna!

an annual tradition!

Last day of Grade 3!

And its a wrap! Grade 3 is done. Claire & Rhys did so well this school year. They had Mr. Pretty for a teacher and they both excelled with their studies and wit their social connections. We are so proud of these smart cookies.

Our end of school year tradition is we head out after school for a fancy celebratory dinner. Jimmy’s school year ends the same day so lots to celebrate.

We went to Japanese Village which was new for the kids. We had some fun!

Aquarium visit

There is a great little aquarium in Sidney that we like to visit now and again. They have some great educational programs for kids. When Claire & Rhys were younger we would enroll them into science camps here that they loved!

We visited during Spring Break this year and had some fun.

Vic West skateboard contest #15!

Jimmy has been organizing an annual skateboard contest at the Vic West skateboard park in Victoria, BC for over 15 years! It is a huge accomplishment and a great community event for youth. Jimmy helped get this park created so to be still involved after all this time is rally special.

We all love to attend and support Jimmy on the contest day. It is always a good time. Way to go Jimmy!
